Jazz Aspen Snowmass 2017: A Celebration of Jazz/Blues Music
*Disclaimer* We have no association with Snowmass, I’m just a proponent for their festival!
For over 20 years Jazz Aspen Snowmass has been putting on a show for the mountains every Labor Day weekend. While it isn’t exclusively jazz music being played, you can bet that you’ll see some of the most popular musicians from across a wide spectrum, and this year is no different. Held at the acclaimed Snowmass Ski Slope, this festival harkens the beginning of the school year and end of a long summer. What’s a better way to do that then by getting outside, enjoying the mountains, and soaking in some music.
The great thing about this festival is that it’s actually quite reasonably priced in comparison to other festivals in the area, especially considering how much entertainment you get. Maroon 5 and Hall and Oates round out one of the best lineups to date. If you want to enjoy music without the hassle of huge crowds, Jazz Aspen Snowmass offers you a festival that isn’t overcrowded. I’ve never had a problem seeing the person I wanted from a good distance.

I know it’s sold out, but if you’re feeling determined you can often find tickets on either stub hub or craigslist. Be sure to arrive to the festival early if you want a good spot, especially on Sunday (the day that’s sold out).
Directions to Jazz Aspen Snowmass 2017 From Denver, Colorado
What better time to take in the beautiful mountain scenery than in the summer when you don’t have to worry about snow tires and icy/slippery roads. While parking can sometimes be an issue I would recommend driving yourself rather than the shuttle (which costs almost $200 round trip). Some people even camp around Aspen and then just hike in for the show, which is another great option.
1 ) Take 170 West for 75 miles
2 ) Merge onto CO-91 for 22 miles
3 ) Follow CO-82 to E Hallam St in Aspen for 43 miles
My Jazz Aspen Snowmass Experience 2016
I’ll leave you with a short anecdote from Jazz Aspen Snowmass 2016. It involves a celebrity sighting and a little too much tequila. So anyways I got the JAS Championship Pass which allows you to meet and greet some Broncos legends and current players. I was at the bar ordering tequila shots for me and my buddies and we were talking about the Broncos chances for the season.
Well, I was four shots in at this point and was running my mouth about the running back situation and how CJ Anderson was a bust and yada yada yada.
Anyways, I was blasting their chances and their running game when I feel a little tap on the shoulder. I looked around and who was behind me but CJ Anderson. Fortunately he was laughing and he says to me, ” just wait til we win it all this year buddy”. I couldn’t respond to that. In retrospect he had a pretty shitty year and I was totally right, but it was fun nonetheless…
